Camping in Shenandoah

We were invited to go camping this week in Shenandoah National Forest! Of course, we said YES! We love to go camping so we set about getting all our “stuff” together! Our friends had rented the Doyles River Cabin. We had to hike in .4 miles. It was a cabin with no electricity, no water, but it did have an outhouse. 🙂 This is what we knew! Oh, did i mention 10 kids! 14,9,8,7,5,4,3,2,1, 5 months!! 🙂 We arrived at Shenandoah and the first thing we saw was a black bear! Awesome! The park was beautiful! As we began our hike in we realized that this “simple” .4 mile hike in was not as easy as we had thought. It was all downhill! We were dragging wagons, coolers, and kids 🙂 oh, and smokey our family dog!! The scene reminds me of that little dog on How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Remember that little dog pulling all that “stuff” up that big hill? Well, when we reached the bottom, the path to the cabin veered to the left, STRAIGHT UP HILL!! Oh my goodness! Poor Corey. He was taking the brunt of this. He also had to pack in Scarlett on his back! This was for some serious hikers! I can not imagine what people thought that saw us with all that stuff and all those kids! What a sight! By the time we reached the cabin we did not want to leave for 2 days! We needed time to recover! The cabin was great, the view was incredible! It was an empty dark cabin with bunks to sleep on, a big front porch with a stone fireplace, and a trail to the outhouse! We were roughing it and we loved it! The kids were filthy but making many great memories! We had a great 3 days spending time with our family and our new friends, the Ruckers. We would definitely do it again without all the “stuff” 🙂 I have to say that when we arrived home that shower never felt better! Enjoy the pics!

Psalm 19:1  The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.

Romans1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been CLEARLY SEEN, being understood through what has been made…

Joel pointed out this amazing sight! How can we be in such an amazing place of God’s creation and not give Him all the glory for what He has made! Praise Him!

and a few other creatures that God allowed us to see. (besides the bear and the deer which we did not get a picture of) oh and did I mention spiders!!! (We do not need pictures of those)

Genesis 1:25 And God made everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good. (even spiders, and even snakes Kim) 🙂

Uhm, I DO NOT appreciate the snake picture. I saw it in the little collage of pictures and figured that’s what it was and was glad it was too little to frighten me. Then I saw it big! You put it big too! Not funny! I looked away as I scrolled down. Hughhhaahhhggg!
