Speaking Truth

Recently a friend of mine was sharing about her weekend to her friend’s house. Even among 11 children they were able to have meaningful discussion! ūüôā They were all about the tough questions on this weekend. Are you in the Word, how are you treating your husband, are you disciplining the children consistently in love… the list can go on and on. It made me think of how often we get together with our friends and our relationship with God does not even come up! ¬†Proverbs 28:23 One who rebukes a person will later find more favor than one who flatters with his tongue.. I am not necessarily talking about rebuking as I am our everyday conversations. Too often I think I may flatter with my tongue.. I speak “things” instead of speaking the Truth of God’s Word! We talk about “stuff” instead of talking about what God is doing in our lives! I just finished reading through Job this morning and WOW! He has lost “everything” from an earthly perspective and now his wife and closest friends accuse him of being evil, even wicked. ¬†As a friend I pray that the Lord would give me a heavenly perspective and not one of this world, that I would be able to comfort and speak the Truth and not just my “opinions” on any given matter, not judging the outward appearance but finding what is from the heart. No one around Job was speaking Truth! May we all have the courage to speak the Truth, to find the Truth when we do not know it. May we take our relationships one step deeper and hold each other accountable by asking the “tough” questions. ¬†May we have “meaningful” conversation. Job’s “spiritual” friends were giving him “advice” ¬†from an earthly perspective. Job 22:7 says that the Lord was angry with them for NOT speaking the Truth about Him… May we be so careful about our words and may we always speak the TRUTH about Him!¬†

Job 42:3,6 Surely I spoke about things I did not understand, things to wonderful for me to know. Therefore I take back my words and repent in dust and ashes.

James 1:19 Let everyone be quick to hear and slow to speak…

After reading this I was very challenged and encouraged. We are going through a Beth Moore study right now called, Living Beyond Yourself and this past week we did a lesson on Joy. At the end of the 5 days she challenged us to step out and be a Joy and Crown to those around us. Today at Bible Study I took it a step further and challenged the group to sharpen one another and be an encouragement to speak the truth. I shared a little of what you wrote about. Thank you for sharing, I truly miss our talks and encouragement… thank God for this!!!
